TMK’s Sarikul Project — A New Milestone in Uzbekistan’s Tungsten Industry

TMK’s Sarikul Project — A New Milestone in Uzbekistan’s Tungsten Industry

Uzbekistan Technological Metals Complex (TMK) is building a fully integrated industrial model that encompasses the entire tungsten value chain — upstream, midstream and downstream. This strategic approach positions Uzbekistan as a reliable, long-term and technologically advanced partner in the global tungsten industry.

At the core of TMK’s upstream expansion is the Sarikul tungsten deposit, located in the Nurabad district of the Samarkand region. The project is being implemented with the support of the Ministry of Geology and Mining of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The engineering and technological design of the project is being developed by AMC Consulting Pty Ltd. and NewPro Consulting & Engineering Services Pty Ltd., two globally recognized Australian companies with extensive industrial expertise in tungsten, refractory metals and complex mining operations.

A central pillar of the Sarikul Project is the full integration of ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) principles. Comprehensive ESG initiatives are being designed to ensure responsible mining practices, transparent governance and long-term environmental stewardship. Mining at Sarikul will combine both open-pit and underground methods, offering operational flexibility, enhanced safety and economic efficiency.

TMK is constructing a state-of-the-art processing plant with an annual capacity of 1 million tonnes of ore. The facility will operate in full compliance with international metallurgical standards and produce 65% tungsten concentrate that meets global quality requirements. The project’s estimated annual output is 4,000 tonnes, while geological reserves and prospective exploration areas indicate a mine life of up to 20 years.

Beyond mineral extraction, Sarikul is designed to foster a regional industrial and social ecosystem. The project will create more than 400 sustainable jobs for local specialists and community members, while driving infrastructure development and long-term socio-economic growth across the region.

Through the Sarikul Project, TMK is not only developing mineral resources — it is shaping a new industrial ecosystem founded on human capital, technological modernization and sustainable development. This initiative will further strengthen Uzbekistan’s position on the global critical minerals map, particularly within the fast-growing tungsten sector.
