A meeting was held between representatives of the Uzbekistan Technological Metals Complex (TMK), Tashkent State Technical University (TSTU), and the SOLVOMET Institute at the Belgian university KU Leuven.
The parties reviewed the progress of a project to develop a technology for extracting rare-earth elements from spent solutions. SOLVOMET researchers presented the results of the work conducted and outlined the next stages of the project's implementation.
During the visit, SOLVOMET Director Peter Tom Jones toured the laboratories and research infrastructure of TSTU. The meeting participants discussed the capabilities of the existing scientific base and its effective use in future joint research.
Particular attention was paid to developing cooperation in the TMK-TSTU-SOLVOMET format, which combines industry needs, the university's research potential, and international scientific expertise.
This model makes it possible to link practical industry challenges with scientific research, utilize the existing potential more effectively, and focus joint initiatives on specific technological results.
For TMK, this is a continuation of a systematic approach, whereby projects in the field of critical minerals are supported not only by a production base but also by a strong scientific and engineering foundation.
