The Uzbekistan Technological Metals Complex (TMK) has reached important agreements with the United Kingdom on the deep processing of critical minerals, the development of high-tech industry, and the expansion of investment and scientific cooperation.
High-level talks were held in Tashkent with the participation of TMK’s leadership, a UK delegation led by Minister of State for Trade Lord Anas Sarwar, and British Ambassador to Uzbekistan Timothy Smart.
The meeting addressed the production of high-tech goods based on tungsten, molybdenum, rhenium, lithium and rare earth metals, joint industrial projects with British companies, and expanded exports.
One of the key areas of discussion was attracting UK companies as residents of the Future Metals Technopark. The participants also considered establishing a joint Uzbek-British scientific and technology centre at TMK’s R&D Park, expanding cooperation with leading British universities and research institutions, training specialists, and introducing advanced technologies into industry.
Following the meeting, a bilateral roadmap for 2026–2028 was signed. It provides for investment events in the United Kingdom, stronger industrial, scientific and educational ties, geological research, and the development of financing mechanisms for joint projects.
The parties also plan to explore investment and export financing opportunities with British financial institutions and establish regular dialogue on critical minerals.
These agreements mark an important step towards strengthening TMK’s international cooperation, attracting advanced technologies and investment, and developing higher value-added production.
