A high-level meeting was held at the Uzbek Technological Metals Complex with a delegation headed by the Special Trade Representative of the Prime Minister of Great Britain for Central Asia and Azerbaijan, Lord John Alderdeys, and the Ambassador of Great Britain to Uzbekistan, Mr. Timothy Smart.
At the meeting, as one of the important areas of cooperation, the possibilities of financing preliminary engineering research, feasibility studies of TMK projects, as well as stages of environmental and social impact assessment were discussed.
The following initiatives were also put forward:
🔹 Launch of a long-term program for the supply of important metals for the needs of the UK's aviation industry;
🔹Creation of a joint educational program "Future Metallurgists" in cooperation with leading scientific research institutions of Great Britain and annual improvement of personnel potential;
🔹Implementation of a pilot initiative to monitor the movement of resources and environmental control, track resource flows, and ensure compliance with international environmental standards based on artificial intelligence and digital observation systems.
In addition, initiatives were put forward and supported to hold the annual "UK–Uzbekistan Critical Minerals Forum" in Tashkent and London, as well as to create a "Investment Dialogue on Critical Metals" platform.
Following the negotiations, an agreement was reached to develop a joint action plan for the implementation of the initiatives put forward and to strengthen cooperation at the institutional level.
